Tight Reg · $1/$2 live

The tight reg who 3-bets you has it. Not "probably has it." Has it. Their 3-bet range at this level is QQ+ and AK, maybe JJ if they're feeling frisky that night.

Why they do it

Live $1/$2 regs tighten up because it works against the field. They don't need to balance. Nobody is exploiting their fold-to-3bet frequency. So they just wait and 3-bet their premiums and it prints.

The adjustment

Just fold. Unless you have the exact hand to set mine profitably or you're in a spot with great implied odds, let it go. You're not catching a bluff here.

What it's worth

Every time you call a tight reg's 3-bet with AJ or KQ you're lighting money on fire. Folding these spots saves $30-60 preflop and avoids the bad session variance that comes from spewing in dominated spots.
